2005 Season - Week 15

20-20 Vision

A couple of weeks ago Mark asked about a 20 TD stat Wayne’s crew had shown. Well the story is quite clear and Daz is the winner of this year’s Papas Fritas Trophy. In the entire history of the NFL, since the beginning of the universe, only 4 running backs have scored 20 TD’s in consecutive seasons. Emmitt Smith in 1994 & ’95, Marshall Faulk in 1999 & 2000, Priest Holmes in 2002 & ‘03 and now Shaun Alexander in 2004 and ’05. In 1995 Emmitt was on Johnny’s Championship team, Marshall was on Mark’s winning squad in 2000, Priest on the 2002 Gareth team which one the Championship. Shaun Alexander is on Daz’s team and he didn’t win last year so... Leaders are Winners AP asked me this week “Just a quick stat, if you've got time (I know how much you enjoy finding these sort of things out), how many BUMS in the lead with 3 weeks to go have gone on to win?” Well the story is quite clear and AP is the winner of this year’s Papas Fritas Trophy. Including the Conference we have now crowned 13 champions and on only 3 occasions did the leader after week 14 not win. The last time it happened was in 2001 when Chief was leading before falling to fourth allowing Marcus to move up from second to win. H lost out in 2000 and Johnny in 1996. RBs on IR As they prepare their assault on Mark’s lead both AP and Daz have had to make late changes to their line-ups. Last week AP lost Brian Westbrook as Phili placed him on Injured Reserve, replacing him with Samkon Gado. This week Daz replaces Stephen Davis with Redskin Ladell Betts. If you see anyone placed on IR let me know asap. BUMS on Seats. Yet once again someone has gone and scheduled Christmas in the middle of the playoff chase. Most NFL games will be played this week on Christmas Eve. Like the complete slacker I am, I’m using this as an excuse not to host on Christmas Eve – that and the fact that Cheryl and the boys wouldn’t let me. On Christmas Day late in the evening/overnight Green Bay host Chicago and Baltimore host Minnesota, We will be getting together at BUMS HQ on Boxing Day from 6pm to see these games. Later that night New England will entertain the New York Jets in the last ever Monday Night Football game on ABC. To celebrate this fact we will be at Andy H’s on Tuesday from 6pm to see this one. He’s doing Roast Beef so let him know if you are attending.
